Being the foodies we are (converted my guy!) we LOVE to go to new restaurants and now that we live in the city we have LOADS of places to try out! Last night we went to an Indian hole-in-the-wall place and it was amazing! I had the Aloo Gobi with potatoes, cauliflower and chick peas and Pierre had the Chicken Biryani and we had awesome leftovers for lunch :).
Today we decided to stop at an Indian market a few blocks from our place that we’ve been eying since we moved in. The market was pretty small but I did come across THIS:
The market had several flavors and options made by Shan, even soup bases! Since we are starting a no-meat diet on the 28th, we have to eat all the meat in the freezer!!!
Tandoori spice mix
1 tablespoon of garlic paste
Zest & juice of 1 lime
2 tablespoons plain non-fat yogurt
Salt & pepper, to taste
Put all the ingredients into a gallon zip-lock bag (I like zip-lock :]) and allow to marinade for at least 30 minutes or up to 24 hours. I cut up a few potatoes and threw them in the bottom of a baking dish with a salt, pepper and Herbs de Provence and then placed the chicken on top of the potatoes, finished it off with a little of stock in the bottom! Cover with foil and pop into a 400 degree oven for an hour. The Tandoori spices made turned the chicken a beautiful hue of red orange AND it was DELICIOUS!
Pair it with roasted cauliflower and some bread or Naan, everyone will love you!
